CREW FAQ

We are looking for volunteers who can commit to at least two weeks of the summer.  You can select and be scheduled for more than two weeks.  CREW members should be available from 8am-5pm daily Monday - Friday.  We understand that things come up and may cause you to need to arrive late, leave early, or miss part of the day (ie. not feeling well, sports camps, doctors appointments, summer school).  We just ask that you clearly communicate those needs to camp leadership well in advance.

Yes, There is $20 registration fee for CREW.  There is no additional cost for field trips except for items available for purchase on certain field trips (ie. snacks at the movie theater) 

Yes, CREW training will take place during the week of 5/28/24-5/31/24

No, you will not be in charge of a group of children.  You will be expected to help with a group of children and may get a chance to help lead activities with camp staff.  There should be no time that you are alone with children.

Helping camp leadership and staff is your main responsibility.  You will have the opportunity to set up / tear down events, games, and crafts.  You will be involved with all parts of our day from morning activities and afternoon programming to cabin time and swimming.  You will need to be able to physically lift 25lbs, sweep, clean tables, sweat, play, and smile.   

For daily activities you will need shoes to run in play in, your CREW shirt, appropriate shorts or pants, and extra change of clothes,  a refillable water bottle, and 2 snacks and 1 lunch.  For wet activities (swimming, water day, applicable field trips) you will need a one piece swim suit or swim cover for a 2 piece swim suit, water shoes (flip flops, slides, sandals), and a towel.  Other recommended items are sun screen (spray or lotion), a hat, and possible a light jacket or long sleeve shirt (if you get cold indoors easily).

Registration adds your information to our childcare system for appropriate accounting of persons on campus.  The registration fee also helps with the cost of your "uniform" (camp shirts).  A registration link will be sent to you after you have completed the CREW info/application.

Campus preference is considered when scheduling CREW members however this all depends on the needs of the program for a given week.

Contact camp leadership to inform them of the change.  A schedule change may lead to change in the week(s) that you are volunteering.

The short answer is yes.  Please keep in mind that you may not be scheduled for all field trips because we need CREW both on campus and on the field trip.  On field trips you will be assigned to a group and will assist camp staff.

This would be a great skill for you to have however, no, you do not have to know how to swim.  We have other activities that you can do if you are not comfortable in the pool.

There is a good chance.  Everything we do will always be challenge by choice.  We encourage you to bring and extra set of clothes just in case.
